That the Corona virus is effecting our daily lives is a fact. We can’t deny it anymore. Cafés, restaurants, sportclubs are closed in Amsterdam and in some countries there is even a complete lockdown. I am grateful that we can still get some fresh here in The Netherlands. The closing of all small independent specialty coffee shops was a big shock. Not just because of my daily cup of c, but mostly because I know how hard it is to run and make a café profitable. So I’m thrilled to see that cafés are finding a way to serve take-away coffees in Amsterdam. Where to get your daily dose of caffeine in times of the Corona virus? I will keep you updated! Because who is The Exploring Barista without exploring.
Just to be clear that these cafés are checking day by day if they keep on doing take-away coffee. I try to keep this blogpost as updated as possible. I haven’t visit them all yet, but I just keep an eye on their Instagram. When I have visit a café, I add photos from my visit. If you find any other specialty coffee shop that is open, please tell me. Next to that be grateful for the fact that we still have these options here in The Netherlands, so don’t misuse this. Keep the Government rules and the café rules in mind. Keep your distance and don’t go outside if you don’t feel well. If you have any symptoms you can just order in a bag of coffee and be a home Barista. I will create a blogpost about this soon.
Take away specialty coffee
Who doesn’t get happy from the smell of fresh ground coffee and home made baked goods. The Scandinavian coffees and cinnamon buns will definitely get your smile back on your face. 4850 has put a table in the doorway to get your order, the coffee gets prepared inside on the Synesso espresso machine and will handed to you on the other doorway. Works out perfectly. And if you want to support the people working in healthcare, you can also buy a coffee for them. Because in front of the café you find the Hospital OLVG and of course the workers need caffeine too. What a beautiful initiative. You can read more about this café in my other blogpost about 2x specialty coffee shops in Amsterdam. Open from 9 AM – 4 PM.
Rum Baba has also several locations, but only the roastery (Pretoriusstraat) is open for business. Take-out coffees and fresh baked cakes will help you to stay productive and positive (their colorful happy coffee bags will help as well!). Open from 9 AM – 3 PM.

This cute café in the east of the city is using beans from Rum Baba. 4850, Rum Baba and Coffee Bru are all in the same neighborhood for those who want to do a little coffee tour and are in need of lots of caffeine. Perfect to combine with a walk in Oosterpark.
