I had high expectations of sleeping and sipping coffee in San Sebastian and it was even better than I expected. I kinda fell in love.
Never was I that excited for a specialty coffee place to open in Barcelona, nor in the whole world.
My main goal for my 29th birthday was to be out of town, do whatever I want and have the best day ever. I planned a city trip to Valencia and had the best birthday ever in this sunny Spanish city with lot’s of food and specialty coffee.
I just came back from beautiful Malaga and I can tell you that this city stole my heart. With upcoming coffee shops, beautiful weather and a lot to do, this a such a great travel destination.
I am a real sugar addict and I prefer it in the way of a slice of cake, a crunchy cookie or soft pastry. And of course next to a beautiful cup of Specialty Coffee. That’s my special moment. But I do realize that lot’s of people can’t eat them all, because they prefer to eat vegan or are lactose intolerant. That’s why I’ve created this mission of specialty coffee and plant-based cakes, so everybody can have their special moment.
That Specialty Coffee is popping up everywhere is a fact. Even restaurants and hotels are starting to be interested in better quality coffee. And now the first shopping + Specialty Coffee experience in Barcelona is a fact. Meet H&M x Flax & Kale. Don’t forget your piggy bank, you will need it.
What else I love next to Specialty Coffee? And bicycles, and cakes. Plants! Yes, I’m a plant lover. They make me so happy. Plants can make a room more cosy and they give it a homey atmosphere. Espai Joliu mix it all up: plants and coffee. Trust me you feel like home here from the moment you step inside.
I love hanging around in the city. There is so much to see, so much to do. But sometimes I just need to escape from the crowded big city, a change of environment. When living, or just on holiday, in Barcelona that’s really easy. There is enough to explore outside the city. In less than one hour by train you can be in Sitges for example. Where you can also have a cup of Specialty Coffee!
As you might know now, I am Dutch. In heart and soul. It goes through my vains, it’s in my blood. No doubt about it. And what else do Dutch people like except for cheese and a big cup of black coffee? Yes, bicycles. I love my bike and I can’t live without it, but I have been a bit lazy lately. Now the weather is getting better it’s me and my bike again.
It’s difficult to find a place in Barcelona that serves good coffee and good food. My favorite coffee places don’t do a lot of food and the other way around. After checking out new places in town last weekend, I think I found a place that does both: Somewhere Café.
